About the Play
Fifteen-year-old Lowell is no average teenager – and his grandfather, Hardy, is no conventional role model. Whether urging the boy to pilfer a neighbour’s peaches, arranging his sexual initiation, or teaching him the finer points of poker, Hardy is the despair of Lowell’s born-again mother, Cash. But how far into forbidden territory has Lowell actually ventured?
The world première of a poignant, thought-provoking and sharply sardonic new drama by one of Canada’s most original playwrights
Content Advisory The play raises the possibility of a teenage boy’s implication in his grandfather’s suicide, but there is no actual depiction of violence. In one scene, a woman offers that same boy his first sexual experience by opening her bathrobe and placing his hand on her breast; however, the scene is discreetly staged, with only momentary partial nudity.
Our recommendation: Suitable for most people aged 13 and up.
