Second season: Assistant director of Phèdre. Despite starting her career with a summer job at Marvel Comics, within two weeks of graduation Alison had defected from superheroes to Shakespeare as an usher at the RSC in London. Now working in both theatre and television, she still hopes to write a graphic novel when she grows up. Assistant directing: Hughie/Krapp’s Last Tape (Stratford); The Rivals, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (English Touring Theatre); Live Like Pigs (Royal Court). Staged readings: Deborah’s Daughter (Royal Court); Pauline’s Wedding (Old Red Lion); The Island of the Mighty trilogy (Harbourfront Centre). Directing: Normand Chaurette’s The Queens, with actors from Sam Mendes’s Richard III (RSC Fringe Festival); James Reaney’s The Donnellys (Old Red Lion, U.K. première). Screenwriting: Left-Handed, Train 48, The Operators, Pompeii, The New World War and story editor on two TV drama series in development.
