Stratford debut: Director of Elektra. Elsewhere: Many modern and classical plays for the Amore and Porta theatres (Athens), National Theatre of Northern Greece, National Theatre of Greece, Athens and Epidaurus Festival and Riverside Studios, London. He has also directed many operas in Greece and Italy. Film/TV: Meri Amen. Awards: National Greek Award for best documentary; Golden Knight, Minsk-Belorussia Film Festival, 1996; Premio Abbiati, 2003, for best opera staging; Critics Guild Award for Ancient Drama, 2009; Kuhn Award, 2011, for most innovative staging. Et cetera: Co-artistic director of Amore/Notos theatre company, 2001 to 2008; Porta theatre, 2008 to present. Has translated, adapted and written plays and has also worked in youth theatre.
