Second season: Appears in Wanderlust and Henry V. Stratford: Golde/Fiddler on the Roof, Lady Angela/Patience. Elsewhere: Barbara starred to enormous acclaim as Mama Rose in the Arts Club production of Gypsy; as Ms Penelope Pennywise (Jessie Award nomination) in the West Coast première of Urinetown (The Firehall Theatre); as Charlotte in the world première of Larry's Party, a musical based on Carol Shields's best-selling novel, at Canadian Stage, MTC and the National Arts Centre; in the Canadian première of William Finn's Elegies (ActingUpStage); as Marilla in Anne of Green Gables (Globe Theatre); and as the formidable Lady Bracknell in the world-première operetta Earnest, The Importance of Being. She co-starred as Mrs. Lovett/Sweeney Todd, Trina/Falsettos (Canadian première) and Molly/Kitty/Old Love with her talented husband, composer/arranger Marek Norman. She made her Broadway debut as Josie Pye in Anne of Green Gables, played opposite Yvonne de Carlo in Dames at Sea, appeared in the off-Broadway hit Corkscrews and was a cast member of the Second City main-stage production The Wizard of Ossington with Martin Short and Catherine O'Hara. Not limited to music theatre, she also appeared in The Rainmaker/Lizzie, Waiting for the Parade/Catherine, Michel Tremblay's Surprise, Surprise, Lend Me a Tenor/Julia and, most recently, as Maria Callas in Master Class. Film/TV: ABC daytime soap Loving (multiple episodes); hosting the multi-award-winning TVO series Mathmakers (13 episodes); Street Legal, Forever Knight, Eerie, Indiana; and four CBC Super Specials; culminating in an ACTRA Award nomination for best variety performance as Punks in Clowns. She recently appeared in Clement Virgo's indie film Lie With Me. Awards: As a celebrated theatre performer, she has garnered seven Dora Award nominations for the enigmatic Ms Byrd/Closer Than Ever (Canadian première), the dangerous Sara Jane Moore/Assassins Canadian première), Mimi Schwinn/A New Brain (Acting Up Stage); Chutzpah a Go-Go, Forbidden Broadway and Snappy Tales. Et cetera: Ms Barsky co-produced with her husband, Marek Norman (Grassy Knoll Productions), the acclaimed Canadian première of Stephen Sondheim's Assassins, which received five Dora Awards, including Outstanding Production. Barbara became Canada's own Norma Desmond when she was chosen by Trevor Nunn to star in the Livent production of Sunset Boulevard. Barbara is one of the co-founders of the highly praised Reprise Concerts, the originating producers of musicals in a concert format. Her Reprise performances include Joanne/Company and Reno Sweeny/Anything Goes.
