Second season: Director of The Pirates of Penzance. Stratford:Dangerous Liaisons. Elsewhere: New York: Never the Sinner (Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle Award); The Best Man (Tony Award nomination, Drama Desk, Outer Critics); 100 Saints You Should Know (Playwrights Horizons), 1001 (both Top 10, TimeOut and Entertainment Weekly); Rx, Sabina (Primary Stages); and The Persians (National Actors Theatre). More than 60 productions of world premières, classics, revivals and musicals at leading companies around the United States including the Guthrie, the Goodman, the Shakespeare Theatre Company, the Old Globe, Arena Stage, the Alley, Centerstage, Dallas Theater Center, Denver Center, George Street Playhouse, Pittsburgh Public, San Jose Rep, South Coast Rep, Wilma and Westport. Training: BFA Columbia University. Et cetera: Mr. McSweeny serves as Treasurer of SDC, the union that represents directors and choreographers in the U.S., and Artistic Director of the Chautauqua Theater Company.
