Film/TV: Disney’s animated feature The Princess and the Frog (music direction, music by Randy Newman) and composing for Jews and Baseball (documentary, theatrical release and PBS), John Walcutt’s Termite, and Your Name Here (with Bill Pullman), in addition to the film versions of Stratford’s recent Twelfth Night and The Tempest. Theatre: Over 250 Broadway/off-Broadway/regional theatre credits including collaborations with Tom Stoppard (American premières of Indian Ink, The Invention of Love), Lee Blessing, Anne Bogart, Culture Clash, Douglas Hughes, Donald Margulies, Gary Marshall, Ethan McSweeny, Carey Perloff, Lisa Peterson, Alice Ripley, Sarah Ruhl, Daniel Sullivan, Mac Wellman, Des McAnuff and many others. Michael has been a resident artist and composer at both South Coast Repertory and La Jolla Playhouse. Et cetera: Many additional collaborations with Randy Newman, including musical direction and arrangements for Harps and Angels, Faust, Education of Randy Newman and editing five songbook anthologies for Alfred Music and Warner Brothers. Michael composed the music and sound for the UN’s Landmine Safety DVD and as a pianist has accompanied singers from Marni Nixon to Alicia Keyes; his new chamber piece, Imagination Dead Imagine (text by Samuel Beckett), will be premièred by the Eclipse String Quartet in Los Angeles in 2012. His work at Stratford is dedicated to his old friend Nicholas Pennell.
