Artist training is a key component of our mandate. Between Festival seasons, our Birmingham Conservatory for Classical Theatre provides intensive full-time instruction to young professional theatre artists chosen by audition from across the country.
The work of the Conservatory is complemented by a season-long program of coaching offered to the entire company. Provided both by the Festival’s own staff and by visiting specialists, coaching covers such areas as voice, diction, text interpretation, movement, stage combat and the Alexander Technique.
In addition, we offer acting apprenticeships and assistant designer and assistant director programs that enable artists in the early stages of their careers to work with, and learn from, some of the most renowned leaders in their fields.To find out how to submit a new play for consideration, please visit our new play development page.
