Friends of the Festival
Formally incorporated in 1985, the Friends of the Festival is a volunteer organization consisting of approximately 200 members with a mandate to "promote interest in and knowledge of the Festival, in order to develop, expand and maintain a responsive audience for Festival performances, and to provide various services to the Festival as determined from time to time in consultation between the Friends and the Festival."
The Friends of the Festival fulfill many different functions throughout the year. They lead more than 12,000 people every year through our Festival Theatre, introducing patrons from around the world to the magic of live theatre. Tours of the Costume Warehouse, Gardens and Archives offer patrons a fascinating glimpse into our past and present. The Friends also assist our Education Department and Administrative offices with clerical duties, greeting patrons for pre- and post- performance chats, and on occasion they represent the theatre at outside events.
If you live in the Stratford area, are able to commit to an entire year of service and enjoy sharing your love of the Stratford Festival with others, please contact us. Due to the number of already dedicated members, there is a long waiting list to join the Friends of the Festival but if you’re interested in being placed on the list, please contact Nancy Altenburg, Human Resource and Volunteer Manager, at 519.271.4040, ext. 2360, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
