Dream Big – Twice!
In 2014 we are presenting not just one but two versions of one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies: A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This will be the first time in our history that we’ve presented two different productions of the same play within a single season!
Why present two versions of the same play?
Audiences will be able to see the Dream both on the broad canvas of a full-scale production and in the close-up intimacy of what Peter Sellars has described as a “chamber play.” Imagine a photo montage: each individual photograph tells its own story – and together they tell a different but related tale. So it is with these two productions: Peter Sellars’s chamber version will zoom in on elements at the heart of the story; Chris Abraham’s panoramic lens will reveal to us the breadth and sweep of the whole.
Won’t you help?
Your support will help foster the spirit of creative innovation that inspires our artists and thrills our audiences. By helping us pursue this extraordinary opportunity to explore in radically different ways the humanity, love and humour embodied in Shakespeare’s great comedy, you will add an unprecedented new dimension to your own enjoyment and that of your fellow audience members.
To support this project is to affirm that you share our passionate commitment to staging Shakespeare in ways that inspire, captivate and engage.
As a small token of our appreciation for your donation of $100 or more, we’ll list your name with other Dream Project sponsors, both online and in the closing-night house programs of both productions.
