Stratford debut: Director of Christina, The Girl King. Elsewhere: Artistic Director, Alberta Theatre Projects, Calgary. ATP directing highlights include John Logan’s Red, Margaret Atwood’s The Penelopiad (remounted at Vancouver’s Arts Club Theatre and nominated for Jessies in every category for which it was eligible), world premières of Old Trout Puppet Workshop’s The Erotic Anguish of Don Juan and Pinocchio and The Syringa Tree starring Meg Roe (twice). This season: world première of François Archambault’s You Will Remember Me, translated by Bobby Theodore, and the 10th-anniversary production of Mieko Ouchi’s The Red Priest (Eight Ways to Say Goodbye). From 1998 to 2006, Vanessa was a dramaturge at ATP, overseeing the development and production of over 30 new Canadian plays. Other directing favourites: Queen Lear (Urban Curvz Theatre), The Enchanted Child (Calgary Opera Emerging Artists Ensemble), When That I Was (The Shakespeare Company, 2009 and 2011).
