2015: Singing coach. Second season. Elsewhere: Jennie enjoys a diverse performing and teaching career spanning the genres of oratorio, opera and musical theatre. She has performed principal roles with Vancouver Opera (Gianetta, L’Elisir d’Amore), Pacific Opera Victoria (Bianca, The Taming of the Shrew), Opera Ontario (Susanna, Le Nozze di Figaro), Calgary Opera (Johanna, Sweeney Todd), Edmonton Opera (Yum-Yum, The Mikado), Opera Atelier (Donna Elvira, Don Giovanni), Mirvish Productions (Sister Sophia, The Sound of Music) and the Canadian Opera Company (First Niece, Peter Grimes; Janine/Ofwarren, The Handmaid’s Tale). On the concert stage, Jennie made her debut with the Vancouver Chamber Choir and the Vancouver Symphony in Brahms’s Ein Deutches Requiem. She went on to perform as an oratorio soloist with many orchestras and choirs across Canada, including the Victoria Symphony (Handel’s Messiah and Ode to St. Cecilia), the Vancouver Chamber Choir (Raminsh’s Mass in C Minor), the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir (Mozart: Requiem, Bach’s Mass in B Minor), Guelph Chamber Choir and Symphony Nova Scotia (Handel’s Messiah), and the National Ballet Orchestra (The Contract). Internationally, Jennie has performed in Germany at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig and the Handel Festival in Halle, at the Seoul Arts Centre in Korea and at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City. In 2011, Jennie was the resident vocal coach for the Toronto production of Billy Elliot, where she worked with both child and adult actors in principal roles. Here she gained much experience working with the changing male voice and maintaining vocal health within the cast of this demanding production. Jennie is currently a guest teacher at the Algoma Conservatory in Sault Ste. Marie. At Western University Jennie teaches voice at the undergraduate and graduate levels. She joined the Don Wright Faculty of Music in 2013. Radio/Recordings: Her live performances have been broadcast on the CBC, MDR (Germany) and the BBC. She has also recorded works for CBC Records and the Naxos label. Training: Jennie Such holds a BMus (Honours) in Voice Performance from Western University and two postgraduate diplomas in Concert Studies and Advanced Opera from the Royal College of Music (U.K.).
