Rose McQueen: A Teacher's Legacy

Tom Patterson founded the Stratford Festival in 1952, but where did the idea begin? Part of the answer lies with Rose McQueen, Patterson’s English teacher, whose passion for language and learning helped shape the young man who would go on to found Canada’s most celebrated theatre festival. Join McQueen’s great-nephew, director Robert McQueen, and local historian Laura Pogson as they explore McQueen’s life, influence and legacy. With contributions from special guests reflecting on the teachers who shaped their own lives, they will consider the enduring impact of educators and the remarkable power of mentorship to inspire confidence, spark curiosity and open new possibilities.
