Shortlisted for the prestigious Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, this gripping play by former Festival company member Anusree Roy gets its first Canadian reading. In India in 1947, three Hindu women have abducted three Muslim women. They hide in a coal truck as it crosses a newly divided Hindustan on its way to West Bengal, where Alia seeks revenge against her former employer. A taut tale of families broken by religious violence and the women caught in the crossfire.
